Mersey Weaver District Shooting Competition 2024

The Target Sports Team are running an Inter-Group Shooting Competition which any Cub, Scout, Explorer or Young Leader can enter. Entry will be on a first-come basis with a limit of 54 participants across all age divisions and a Cub division maximum of 18 participants.
Participation by those in the Scout Section will count towards their Scout Master at Arms badge (participation in a formal shooting competition).
This is not a taster/Open Shoot session; those Cubs, Scouts, Explorers or Young Leaders participating will be expected to have shot before, be able to load the air gun for themselves and know how to shoot safely as there no instruction given on how to shoot . Only a safety briefing on safe handling of the air gun and rules of the range will be provided.

Summary of Rules
Divisions:
Cubs : 8 – 9 yrs (as of 24th February 2024)
Scouts: 10 – 14 yrs 3 months (as of 24th February 2024)
Explorers: 14yrs 4 months – 17 years (as of 24th February 2024)
Classes
Cubs will shoot bench resting and can participate the following classes :
Six Yard Sporter Air Rifle (.177) 6 yard – Springer
Six Yard Sporter Air Rifle (.177) 6 yard – Knockout
Scout and Explorers will shoot in the standing position and can participate the following classes :
Six Yard Sporter Air Rifle (.177) 6 yard – PCP
Six Yard Sporter Air Rifle (.177) 6 yard – Springer
Six Yard Air Pistol (.177)
Six Yard Sporter Air Rifle (.177) 6 yard – Knockout
Participants will shoot all classes at 6 yards:
Springer Air Rifle
Scouts & Explorers will use NSRA 7/89 (6yd air rifle) target , Cubs will use NRSA 3/89 (10m air rifle)
1 shot at each of the 5 diagrams on the card. Total 5 shots per card, 4 cards
Time limit 20 mins.
PCP Air Rifle
NSRA 7/89 (6yd ai rifle)
1 shot at each of the 5 diagrams on the card. Total 5 shots per card, 4 cards
Time limit 20 mins
Pistol
10-11 years of age as of 24th February 2024)can shoot 2 handed. Those 12 or over must shoot single handed.
NSRA 8/18
5 shots at each target, 4 competition cards.
Time limit 20 mins.
Teams
Teams will consist of 3 youth members from the same section in the same Group, or Explorer Unit. More than 1 team can be entered from the same Cub Pack/Scout Troop/ESU.
Members of each team entry must be provided to the organisers when signing in on the day of the competition and before the safety briefing takes place.
Ranking
Individual Rifle and Pistol Discipline:
Best 2 competition cards scored to determine ranking .
Team Rifle & Pistol Discipline:
Aggregate of team pistol and rifle scores to determine ranking .
What To Wear/Bring
Packed lunch and water bottle
Comfortable clothing
Footwear without any form of ankle support
Long hair must be tied back
A blinder can be used but no other shooting aids will be allowed to be worn.
Uniform sweatshirt/shirt and group necker to be worn for presentation
